Work is well underway on Crossrail, the largest civil engineering project in Europe whose scale of investment is greater than that of the 2012 Olympic Games.
Crossrail promises to bring substantial benefits to London, the South East and the UK as a whole in terms of passenger experience, increased choice and reliability, and reduced journey times when its first stations are ready to open in 2018. The line will connect Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west with Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, passing through central London stations.
This exhibition showcases, for the very first time, the outstanding designs and concepts behind Crossrail’s eight central stations: Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Whitechapel, Canary Wharf, Custom House.
The exhibition also introduces the Crossrail Art Programme, which aims to embed art across the whole line of the route as well as within individual stations.
