“Whoever said Londoners don’t talk to one another is incorrect. Community spirit is alive and well and that was evident through the numerous entries that we received for the Community Prize. A diverse range of entries ranging from skateboarders, youth gardening, community buildings and meanwhile employment hubs were received which made this increasingly difficult to judge. It was an honour to shortlist and present to the International Jury and big congratulations to the winners.”
“I thoroughly enjoyed the award jury process - the opportunity to see the breadth of entrants and the calibre of work occurring across London, and to debate the projects in detail with such a diverse and highly knowledgeable jury. The ‘Meanwhile’ category, whilst clearly pitched at the temporary and transitional use of space, is certainly to become larger and more permanent as the world and our times force different pressures on both our built and unbuilt spaces.”
“The Workplace shortlist showcases exemplars that range in scale and complexity from major, premium grade, leading edge, office buildings, to small, often simple, projects. All contribute to London’s economy, and all demonstrate instructive design thinking. As Expert Assessor, my role is identifying the strengths of every project, without prioritising between different typologies - an unfettered professional pleasure.”
