Dr Olimpia Burchiellaro is an academic and activist based in London. She is currently a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the Department of Politics and International Relations, School of Social Sciences at the University of Westminster. She has conducted ethnographic research on the impact of gentrification on LGBTQ+ inclusion in London and corporate involvement in LGBTQ+ politics in the UK and across the global South. She is a member of the University's Decolonizing Steering Group, the Gender and Sexuality Study Group at the Centre for the Study of Democracy, and the activist collective The Friends of the Joiners Arms, which is fighting to open London’s first community-owned, community-run, late-license queer pub.
