Elsie Owusu OBE
Elsie Owusu OBE is an architect, conservationist, urban designer and principal of Elsie Owusu Architects Ltd. As a former partner of Feilden+Mawson LLP, her projects include the UK Supreme Court and London’s Green Park Station. In 2018, 

Elsie was Founding Chair of the Society of Black Architects and the first Black woman to stand for the RIBA Presidency, being runner-up to Alan Jones in 2018. She is a RIBA Role Model and was  re-elected to RIBA National Council. 

Current projects include: a studio/residency complex for the artist Yinka Shonibare CBE in Lagos; the new Kumasi City Hall Complex, Ghana, as well as new build low-carbon homes in Sussex.

As a director of JustGhana, Elsie promotes development projects in Ghana, highlighting environmental education for children and young people through architecture and the creative industries. In 2003, she was honoured by the Queen for services to architecture.
