Mike has been a digital pioneer and entrepreneur for over 25 years, developing innovative digital businesses across media, public and commercial sectors.
Working at Kew Gardens, he led both citizen science and planning projects, and came up with the idea of using a citizen science approach to engage communities in planning projects. After presenting this idea at TEDx Parliament he founded Commonplace.
The company has grown steadily, winning investment and awards, and engaging over 4 million people through more than 1,500 citizen engagement projects. It has set the standard for digital engagement in the UK and overseas, being used by over 100 local government and development organisations to improve community involvement in place making. Mike is also a trustee of Trinity College London.
