Richard is a creative entrepreneur who happens to be well educated in the field of property development and investment. He is an Honours Graduate of Reading University’s Land Management (Development and Planning Specialism) and has established, built and sold four property investment and professional companies in the past two decades..
He pioneered one of London’s leading house builders, Mount Anvil, in 1991 delivering 5,000 student bedrooms which have since won numerous awards and also established Cathedral Healthcare Plc, a leading primary healthcare company from scratch.
Richard founded Cathedral Group Plc in 1998 and has nurtured the company into a six million sq. ft. market-leading pioneer in public private partnership developments.
He was the driving force behind Cathedral’s values and vision to create social and economic growth through redevelopment. Richard merged Cathedral with Development Securities Plc in May 2014.
Richard is a keen patron of the Arts and is passionate about the quality of place. He sets the strategic direction of U+I and has a clear vision for what the company can achieve for the wider community, beyond its commercial objectives.
Richard is a member of the Advisory Committee for English Heritage. He also represents U+I in our sponsorship of the Architecture Foundation, British Property and is an advisor on regeneration to a number of local authorities.
