FindingYourPlace: the skills needed for a better built environment

Half-day conference

Monday 24 June 2024
14:00 - 18:00

This conference aims to look at talent in the built environment sector both in terms of individual expertise and career trajectories.
No matter what stage of your career you are in, with an ever evolving and complex industry we all need the opportunities, skills and confidence to understand the sector at its fullest, our respective roles within it, and the many challenges and opportunities within. From graduates to senior career changers, we all need to find our place, navigate the sector, and realise our potential.

This conference aims to look at talent in the built environment sector both in terms of individual expertise and career trajectories, and the role of cross-disciplinary thinking, and understanding of how skills and services are brought together to deliver a better built environment. This means encouraging conversations about both the usual ‘NextGen’ topics like sustainability and inclusion, and the thornier topics of power, politics and money that shape our sector.

This event brings together professionals from across the built environment, including representatives from NextGen networks from across the industry. We’ll look at the importance of qualifications and technical expertise, interdisciplinary intelligence, the role of collaborators and generalists, and the balance and skills, experience and leadership needed, including through case studies and project examples.

If you are a member of a community group or charity, we have a certain number of free tickets available so please enquire via emailing events@nla.london.
