Join this NLA Study Tour of UCL East Marshgate to hear from Stanton Williams and ATK II all about the new academic campus.
Designed by Stanton Williams, Marshgate is a 35,000sqm new breed of academic campus that sits at the forefront of UCL East – the largest single expansion of University College London since it was founded in Bloomsbury nearly 200 years ago.
Located on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and part of the SHIFT innovation district, Marshgate is based on the recognition that the answers to the global challenges we face lie less in traditional disciplines than in the interaction between them and, crucially, between academics, researchers, students as well as wider public.
As UCL's largest single building, Marshgate offers eight floors of open and adaptable teaching, research and collaboration spaces for fields ranging from the creative industries to engineering, robotics, green technologies, fair finance and global health.
As well as creating an environment where a truly collaborative spirit could thrive, the brief called for a robust, durable and flexible building that could easily adapt to changing needs over time as new and unforeseen ways of working and new types of disciplines emerged within the new campus. Designing not only for today's users, but also for changing needs and future generations of users was fundamental to Stanton Williams' approach.
Please note the capacity for this event is 20 and tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis, with a maximum of 2 per organisation.
