Restoring Battersea Power Station

Talk

Thursday 07 December 2023
08:30 - 09:30

To celebrate the winner of the New London Awards 2023, join this Breakfast Talk and hear from the experts involved in the restoration of Battersea Power Station, transforming the iconic landmark from a derelict ruin into a mixed-use destination.
The overall winner of the New London Awards 2023 has been awarded to Battersea Power Station for its exemplar approach to conservation and transformation of an iconic, international renowned landmark. Battersea Power Station is at the heart of one of central London’s largest, most visionary and eagerly anticipated new developments, which is seeing a vast 42-acre former industrial brownfield site become home to a community of homes, shops, cafes, offices and over 19 acres of public space.

Nearly forty years after Battersea Power Station was decommissioned, the London landmark opened to the public in October 2022, following a transformative eight-year restoration. A remarkable collaboration between the developer, architects, engineers, Historic England and government, Battersea Power Station’s future has now been secured for generations, saving this cultural landmark and bringing it into public use for the first time in history.

Join us at this Breakfast Talk where we will hear from the key stakeholders and designers behind the winning scheme, for a discussion on how the building was restored and transformed into a place to shop, live, eat, work and play.
