Archikidz Play[Ground]

Built

Collaboration with not for profit organisation Archikidz and Sydney Living Museums, PLAY[ground] temporarily transformed the historic Hyde Park Barracks in the heart of Sydney.

Four thousand children, three days and unlimited play - what you get is countless unexpected ideas about how to make our cities more liveable, enjoyable – and playable.

Kids were inspired to play in different ways by interactive installations and were invited to share their suggestions for creating more engaging cities in the 'Little House: Big ideas' cubby house – offering up fresh thinking for future inner-city public realm projects.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
