Chasing Kitsune

Built

Chasing Kitsune was a 'meanwhile' foley that brought food, community gathering and city exploration and discovery together as a means of activating disused corners of the city

‘Kitsune, a mythical fox in Japanese culture, possesses people and only reveals its true form in shadow or reflection. The fox is cunning and comes out at night, rarely seen’.

Kitsune took the form of a food truck, appearing in new locations each evening. To find Kitsune, people followed through social media, all of which revealed its new evening location. Half the fun was finding it but Chasing Kitsune also encouraged people to enjoy new undiscovered corners of the city.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
