Longgang River Blueway Design Competition

Proposed

The Shenzhen Longgang River Blueway seeks to protect and enhance 1,000km of waterways in the city of Shenzhen.

The Shenzhen Longgang River Blueway seeks to protect and enhance 1,000km of waterways in the city of Shenzhen. The river is the eco-corridor for the watershed with limited ecological space for flora and fauna to live and thrive.

Hassell’s solution not only restores the eco-system and improves the quality of the landscape and river edge public realm, it also reimagines the waterfront as a centre for city and community development. Using the global connectedness available through technology, a methodology accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Longgang project leveraged the international expertise available through the firm’s London studio.
