Firestone LDN | A West Cross Development

Planning Granted

An Art Deco inspired flexible distribution, logistics and warehouse scheme, providing BREEAM Excellent rated intensification of industrial uses for the iconic Firestone site in Brentford.

Firestone LDN is a landmark logistics redevelopment situated at West Cross Industrial Park, Brentford, on London’s historic Great West Road a designated Strategic Industrial Location set out in the London Plan. The site, once home to the iconic 1928 Art Deco Firestone Tyre Factory, is being transformed into a 89,703sqft state-of-the-art industrial facility, due for completion in late 2025.

The scheme is being designed and delivered by Chetwoods Architects for Legal & General Asset Management. The project fuses architectural heritage with contemporary sustainability and wellbeing principles. Chetwoods’ design draws on the site’s Art Deco heritage, with key features of the original Firestone Building reimagined in contemporary form. The scheme’s structure incorporates a grid system inspired by the original façade, translated into a full-height glazed frontage. This is aligned behind the preserved stepped entranceway, which remains a focal point of the development. Even the historic Firestone typography has been given a creative new lease of life through abstract decorative glazing.

The site’s frontage will be enhanced with green infrastructure, improved public realm, and dedicated pedestrian and cycle access.

Designed with ESG leadership in mind, the development targets BREEAM Excellent. It will operate on 100% electric power and includes rooftop PVs, rainwater harvesting, and extensive green infrastructure, planting, and pollinator friendly habitats for improved biodiversity.

Beyond its environmental credentials, Firestone LDN delivers social and economic value. It delivers modern industrial floorspace, responds to increased demand for local employment, and activates a high-profile site at the eastern gateway to the Golden Mile.
The project reflects Hounslow’s Great West Corridor ambitions, aligning with a vision of innovation, economic vitality and inclusive growth.

Firestone LDN is not just a logistics facility, it is a regenerative industrial landmark, reimagining a legacy site for future generations while contributing to London’s economic, social and environmental resilience.

This project is featured as a project in RePower London: Infrastructure for Growth. The report, exhibition, and accompanying online project directory examine the critical infrastructure needed to support London's growth and resilience. We explore the role of innovation, collaboration, and sustainable design in shaping the city's future, with a focus on ensuring that London remains fit-for-purpose, equitable, and competitive in the long term.
