Urban Oasis, award-winning installation

Built

An award-winning environmental installation designed to demonstrate sustainable energy production within an oasis. It has been exhibited around London, including Clerkenwell Green.

Urban Oasis is an award-winning environmental installation designed to demonstrate sustainable energy production within an oasis for city dwellers.

It is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, with photovoltaic petals which open in response to the sun, utilising light to generate power. At night the entire structure is transformed into a light sculpture.

It has been exhibited around Europe as an educational installation, including in Clerkenwell Green, London.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
