Co-creating Equitable Places

Half-day conference

Friday 14 October 2022
09:00 - 13:00

Is London’s public realm the most equitable it can be? This half-day conference will bring together experts to discuss the co-creation of equitable public spaces.
Hosted by Lendlease at Workable

London is a city with a far more extensive public realm than is initially perceived. London's parks and green spaces make up 18 per cent and London’s streets equate to a further 9,197 miles of road in the city. The city has an abundance of space that can be utilised to create a better experience for the public; made up of people visiting and living in London. Yet is this ‘public’ space equitable, accessible, and free for all to use?

In a city dominated by heritage sites and a historic infrastructure network, London suffers the challenge of having to uphold the principles and culture of a more adaptive and inclusively driven society within a historic landscape. Is London achieving the goals it is setting out to? What innovative approaches to place and space-based design is pushing societies' experience of the public realm forward and where is there still more work to be done?

This half-day conference will explore the challenges of London's public space and will hear from pioneers in the sector, driving inclusion and igniting the debate of ‘how do we make London an inclusive city for all?’
