Alex Luria is an Associate at London-based practice Jestico + Whiles. Since joining the practice in 2011, he has developed a specialism in housing design and regeneration.
Currently, Alex is part of a collaborative team co-designing an estate regeneration masterplan for the London Borough of Newham, set to deliver up to 1,700 new homes over the next decade. He is also leading the Island Quarter project, a major mixed-use regeneration scheme comprising housing, hotel, retail, commercial and leisure & entertainment space forming the flagship scheme for the redevelopment of an industrial brownfield masterplan in Nottingham.
Completed projects include 351 Caledonian Road for Telford Homes (Housing Design Awards Winner, British Homes Development of the Year), which used Modern Methods of Construction and to deliver 156 homes across seven buildings, set amongst 2,400 newly planted trees and extensive landscaping, on a uniquely constrained rail side site.
Alongside this Alex has led several major housing estate and brownfield land regeneration projects, including Peckham Place for Notting Hill Housing, Equipment Works for U+I and Colindale Gardens for Redrow Homes.
At the other end of the scale, Alex was the project architect for Mill Lane (RIBA House of the Year finalist, RIBA South Award), a carbon neutral family home featuring passive solar design and innovative renewable technologies.
