Designing for learning: Primary schools newest projects PechaKucha

Talk

Tuesday 15 February 2022
18:00 - 20:00

An evening PechaKucha presenting the latest primary school projects and educational spaces around London.
Well-designed schools and learning spaces are crucial in delivering the highest educational outputs across the city. The way educational buildings are designed, should not only demonstrate exceptional architecture but respond to their surrounding sites by providing multifaceted and mixed-use facilities that are servicing not just the students and staff, but the neighbouring communities. The educational sector plays a major role in regenerations schemes across the city by providing healthy and future-proof buildings that enrich their local area.

New learning patterns, the need for increased outdoor space and hybrid approaches to teaching have created new demands post-covid that have led to novel trends in school design. Health, wellbeing, and sustainability are high on the agenda, and the innovations in this sector are paving the way for other key areas in the built environment. The positioning of the education sector in the public realm is crucial to city-wide development and therefore its future.
