London Tall Buildings Survey 2022 – Report launch

Talk

Tuesday 26 April 2022
08:30 - 09:30

Join us as we present our latest edition of the annual London Tall Buildings report including the annual pipeline update and insights.
There is no doubt that the disruption brought by the COVID-19 pandemic has had significant impact on the tall buildings pipeline. Even though the pipeline of 20 storey-plus buildings in the capital contracted 1% year-on-year in 2021, there are signs of a slowdown of tall buildings in London.

Changes in planning policies, the adoption of the London Plan and the introduction of National Design Codes will affect where and how tall buildings are planned, designed and built. Considering more than 88,000 new homes are estimated across the entire tall buildings pipeline, or just under two years’ worth of housing need based on GLA requirements of 52,000 new dwellings per annum, are tall buildings a solution to the housing problem?

The NLA London Tall Buildings Survey has supplied the only comprehensive review of tall buildings in the pipeline in London since 2014. Before the 2022 London local elections, we present our latest edition of the report including the annual pipeline update and insights into planning policies, attitudes towards density, housing and the climate agenda in London.
