Study Tour: Greycoat Stores

Tour

Wednesday 28 May 2025
08:30 - 10:00

Join this study tour to explore how heritage experts SPPARC revived a former Army & Navy Stores warehouse’s lost Victorian charm with a workspace-led scheme
Located just south of Victoria Street, Greycoat Stores was one of a string of buildings commissioned by the Army & Navy Stores department store group that appeared in and around Westminster in the 1890s. By the mid 20th-century, however, renovation works had stripped the former warehouse of its Victorian charm, most notably by replacing its signature red brick exterior with a bland cement render.

This study tour will explore how London studio SPPARC – also behind Borough Yards and the Olympia masterplan – has delivered seven floors of modern workspace, retail and leisure uses via the sensitive reworking of the building to reinstate its prominence on this important Westminster street.

Starting externally to review the reintroduced red brick façade, the tour will showcase some of the BREEAM Excellent scheme’s new commercial floors, its end of trip facilities and roof terrace.

Please note the capacity for this event is very limited and therefore tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis, with a maximum of 2 per organisation.
