Spatial Sound & Guidance Company (SSGC) is a pioneering start-up revolutionising how we interact with places through innovative spatial audio wayfinding. Our mission is to connect people and places in a post-smartphone world, offering a seamless, heads-up and hands-free experience.

Utilising a mobile and headphones, our technology augments physical locations with spatially aware navigation and rich, layered information. Instead of traditional turn-by-turn directions, we provide ambient cues – calling out nearby roads, landmarks, and points of interest – combined with customer-specific data. Virtual audio beacons guide users, helping them build a mental map of their environment while staying engaged with their surroundings.

Our solutions are built upon Soundscape, a decade-long Microsoft research project that explored how 3D spatial audio can enhance mobility independence. SSGC was founded with the lead researcher of this project, bringing this proven technology to the mainstream. Our goal is to empower users to shift from a 'heads-down' screen mode to a 'heads-up' mode, fostering greater engagement and opening them to a wealth of digital information.

We are currently developing pilots with organisations such as local authorities, real estate developers, shared mobility providers and Business Improvement Districts, all seeking to offer more engaging and intuitive ways for people to experience the places they visit.
