We’re pleased to have Mentoring Circle join our group of cosponsors for the Diverse Leaders Pledge, Vanessa Murray shares a bit about the scheme, how you can get involved and find out more.
Mentoring Circle is a cross-sector mentoring scheme set up by Vanessa Murray to promote female talent retention in the property industry and address gender disparity at senior leadership level. We partner senior female industry leads with junior women working in property for a 1-1 mentoring partnership over the course of 12 months. The scheme is designed to be inspirational, accessible and enable participants in the scheme to build a network both at junior and at senior level.
In conjunction with mentoring the five key strands of the programme are as follows:
- Mentor training for all mentors
- Bespoke ‘Emerging Leaders’ programme for all mentees
- Expert guest speaker sessions for both mentors and mentees held throughout the year on pertinent topics including ‘Imposter Syndrome, Confidence and Self Worth’, ‘Finance for Property Professionals’, and ‘How to Build your Brand and Make a Positive Impact in the Workplace’
- Monthly senior leadership breakfast seminars for all Mentors
- In person networking events
The scheme launched in 2021 with 81 mentors (24% at C-Suite level/Board level). For 2022 a further 40 incredible mentors have joined the ranks including CEO for the Museum of London, Head of UK Asset Management for CBRE Global Investors, Senior Manager of Global Capital Projects for Lloyd’s of London and Managing Director of Sir Robert McAlpine.
In February of this year we released a podcast offshoot of Mentoring Circle called ‘Bricking It’ whereby a selection of the mentors were interviewed to discover the personality behind the accolade in order to understand how they became so successful...despite bricking it.
