Dalston Lane Terrace

Built

Dalston Lane Terrace is a conservation-led, mixed-use regeneration project in Hackney, sympathetically blending heritage with contemporary architecture to create 44 new homes and 1,000sqm of retail.

Saving a severely dilapidated high street in Hackney by introducing 44 new homes and 1,000sqm of retail space, Child Graddon Lewis' design has created a place that is historically authentic yet boldly contemporary. Through the redistribution of the mix of uses and access to them, the vitality of the high street and the peaceful amenity of the homes have been substantially enhanced.

Not only has the permeability in the new design made the area much more desirable but it has dramatically enhanced the walk-though at the back of the buildings, making it safer and more comfortable. Additionally and by retaining the freehold and managing the commercial leaseholds going forward, Hackney Council will now beneficially offer competitively priced rents and determine the retailers they want to attract.
