Hyatt Place London City East, re-planned and delivered by Studio Moren, is located in Whitechapel and features 280 keys, an all-day dining and lounge space as well as a ninth-floor bar and terrace.

The site in East London, was previously a seven-storey office building built in the 80’s. The existing building was stripped back to its concrete structure and re-clad. An additional three storeys were added in a lightweight steel frame.

Studio Moren reconfigured the previous aparthotel scheme by replanning the internal layouts with the Hyatt brand at the forefront. The reconfiguration also allowed for the addition of the roof bar. The lobby and restaurant are located on the lower ground floor alongside an orangery, courtyard, gym, and a grab-and-go food market. The guestrooms include a variety of standard and accessible rooms, spread across 10 floors with views of London.

Using a combination of dark grey corium brick slips with glazing at higher levels, the striking aesthetic of the building signifies the start of the City as you approach from the East. As you climb the building, the extent of the stepped gold curtain wall increases, providing vast glazed elements that encapsulate the views.
