NEW LONDON AWARDS 2020

Winner in the CARING category

A community facility for residents at The Morden College care home; hosting uses formerly spread across the site in one building, with new spaces and amenity tackling loneliness and social isolation.

A new community facility for the elderly residents of The Morden College in Blackheath, bringing together uses formerly spread disparately across the site. The hub aims to tackle social isolation and loneliness among older people, providing workshops and arts-space, a café, medical facilities and a number of resident lounges to facilitate varied types of social interaction. Sensitive to the Christopher Wren, Grade 1 listed Almshouse and surroundings, the building and landscaping sensitively engage with the existing context, enhancing daily life for the elderly residents.
