New London Architecture

Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre London

Built

First acting as a London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Aquatic Training venue, then hosting wheelchair tennis, now a permanent world-class tenniss and hockey facility, serving the wider local community.

Continuing a century old tradition of the site in providing sporting facilities to the local community, the project began as a London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic venue hosting aquatics training and Wheelchair Tennis, as the only purpose built Paralympics venue in the Games’ history.

The design though took as a starting point an intended legacy as a world class and community accessible hockey and tennis facility, to minimise the transformation necessary between phases and be a true exemplar of flexibility.
