London 2012 Olympic Velodrome

Built

A world class sports venue designed around sustainability and legacy use, pushing the boundaries of efficiency in every aspect of the design – including its structural and environmental performance.

The Useful Simple Trust, comprising Expedition Engineering, Thomas.Matthews, Useful Projects and Useful Studio, worked on multiple Olympic and legacy projects.

Bringing together our expertise in engineering, masterplanning, placemaking, wayfinding design, sustainability and architecture, we delivered projects that included the Velodrome; the first project to be handed over on time and on budget, the ’Levitating’ entrance sculptures, wayfinding and placemaking to revitalise Stratford town centre, to the sustainable water strategy for the park. All designed around their legacy use.
