Built

Designed to sensitively integrate with a complex urban context, the unique pedestrian and cycle bridge forms a vital crossing over the Great Western Mainline Railway in Newport City

Designed to sensitively integrate with a complex urban context, the unique pedestrian and cycle bridge forms a vital crossing over the Great Western Mainline Railway in Newport. The bridge encourages active travel and provides much-improved connectivity for local communities. The scheme improves accessibility for disabled users, with wheelchair road crossing points located on either side of the bridge and gradients not exceeding 1:20.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
