Stratford Cross

Under Construction

Welcome to Stratford Cross — a destination that puts you within a five-minute stroll of some of the capital’s greatest experiences located at 9 Endeavour Square.

‘Braided Traditions: Common Threads’ is a collaboration between Black Girl Knit Club and Lendlease to Yarn Bomb The Pavilion at Stratford Cross as a celebration of black women’s hair through knitting. Black Girl Knit Club members developed arm knitting techniques (no needles) to decorate the pavilion’s public spaces, overlooking Endeavour Square. The knits incorporate upcycled scaffolding netting sourced from construction businesses, ribbon, rope textures and other repurposed textiles.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
Nestled between 560 acres of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the London Stadium, Stratford City Westfield and the creative institutions of East Bank, this ever-evolving destination is at the heart of Stratford. The neighbourhood is also part of the inclusive innovation district, SHIFT. Once complete in 2030, it will include 239,000sqm of next generation workplace, 683 apartments, 8,000sqm of retail and new community facilities.
