New London Architecture

Television Centre

Built

The reinvention of the existing Grade II-listed BBC Television Centre in west London into an exemplary mixed-use development, set within a generous and vibrant landscape setting.

Originally conceived as the HQ of the BBC, the Grade II listed Television Centre has been reinvented and opened up to the public through a site wide mixed use masterplan. Central to the vision of the project is preservation and celebration of the original listed features, including the circular mosaic lined Helios Courtyard, with golden Helios sculpture and water feature, and the original Stage Door, now principal entrance to the residential apartments, housing the refurbished John Piper mural.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
