The Artist's Garden

Built

The Artist's Garden is the transformation of a neglected half-acre roof terrace on Temple tube station into a vast free public sculpture garden for appreciation of the work of artist-women.

The Artist's Garden is the transformation of a neglected half-acre roof terrace on Temple tube station into a vast free public sculpture garden for the appreciation of the work of artist-women. It is an elevated, barrier-free public space with an annual programme of groundbreaking sculptural interventions that respond to the history of the site including the Embankment and the Thames, reveal the overlooked and address the concept of the garden as an expression of the human/nature relationship.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
