The major refurbishment of one of the first buildings in Canary Wharf – now known as YY London – will significantly improve its environmental performance and relationship with the surrounding public realm. The project will create a NIA 408,000 sq ft building and increase ground-level activation across the lower floors, provide 25% more office and retail space, articulate a bold new façade, and create a striking reimagination of an existing building that avoids the need for demolition over water.

The striking reimagination of 30 South Colonnade – now known as YY London – will create a NIA 408,000 sq ft building that increases ground-level activation across the lower floors, provides 25% more office and retail space, articulates a bold new façade and avoids the need for demolition over water. Altogether, we will significantly improve the building’s relationship with the surrounding public realm and reduce the overall energy demand of the building by 62%, whilst avoiding demolition is estimated to save 10,260 tonne CO2e - equivalent to planting 51,300 trees.
The redevelopment of 30 South Colonnade into YY London will create a NIA 408,000 sq ft building and increase ground-level activation across the lower floors, provide 25 per cent more office and retail space and create a striking reimagination of an existing building that avoids the need for demolition over water. The proposals will reduce the overall energy demand of the building by 62 per cent, whilst avoiding demolition is estimated to save 10,260 tonne CO2e. The new glazed facade greatly improves activation at ground level, bringing a new vibrancy to visitors and passersby and the creation of new retail and food and beverage units.
