Culture’s role in London’s development and regeneration

London’s cultural sector is a key driver of its socio-economic regeneration, contributing £58.4 billion annually and providing one in six jobs. As the sector evolves, the built environment community, investors, and local authorities must work together to support cultural initiatives, ensuring they are accessible, affordable, and engaging for younger generations, with sufficient cultural funding.

This NLA year-round programme explores how culture influences regeneration, including placemaking, the role of cultural institutions in meeting net-zero goals, and the growth of the night-time economy. It also focuses on the importance of tailored cultural strategies for each borough, leveraging networks to drive change, and ensuring cultural initiatives remain open to all.
