Arita is a Board Director and award-winning Architect at Spitalfields-based practice Child Graddon Lewis. Arita’s expertise centres upon housing and mixed-use development, regeneration and masterplanning with a focus on urban developments of all scales.
She combines strong design and technical skills with over 25 years’ worth of experience delivering buildings of exceptional quality on complex urban sites through all stages – from feasibility through to completion. Projects include Victoria Wharf in Ladbroke Grove, Peel Place in Brent, St. Leonard’s Court in Hoxton, Queen’s Court in Southwark and 156 West End Lane in Camden. Arita is instrumental in the practice’s research towards the issues of technical approach and planning policy, both in outlining and endorsing best practice. As a result, Arita has been invited to present at several seminars including the GLA’s Planning Forum, and at the Government’s Housing for an Ageing Population.
In addition to her project work, she is a passionate advocate of mentoring students and has been involved in several outreach programmes through the RIBA, Construction Skills Council and Social Mobility Foundation. Arita has also recently been featured in the ‘Say it Loud’ exhibition, a programme that celebrates diversity in architecture staged in conjunction with the RIBA.
