Retrofit Summit

Summit

Wednesday 09 October 2024
09:00 - 13:30

This NLA Retrofit Summit sponsored by Civic Engineers and shedkm, showcases how built environment practitioners are reinvigorating, reusing and decarbonising London’s existing building stock.
In recent times, as working patterns have evolved, approaches to reimagining and adapting single-use offices to serve new purposes and uses have become increasingly important. To unlock assets and optimise London’s potential commercial space, industry leaders are increasingly opting to retrofit existing buildings.

Emissions from heating and powering London’s commercial and industrial buildings currently make up 36 per cent of the capital’s carbon footprint. In this context, retrofitting London’s non-domestic building stock is also critical to meeting the mayor’s ambitions for net zero by 2030.

As some tenants move back to the City of London and others reduce their footprint, how can buildings be reimagined to attract new occupants? What tools can be adopted to reuse building’s fabric, materials and energy responsibly?

This NLA Retrofit Summit brings together voices from across the built environment industry to showcase the potential of adaptive reuse and circular principles to inject new life into old buildings, presenting best practice projects, strategies and programmes.
