Angel Yard provides 36 terraced enterprise spaces in converted garages and a community hall. The buildings are arranged along two internal streets sheltered by translucent canopies.
For a period of 17 years, the LaunchIt Trust will operate the Yard, supporting entrepreneurs between 18 + 30 to become successful in business. People in Edmonton are experiencing barriers to education, employment and environmental deficiencies.
Angel Yard, alongside the recently created Library Living Room and the forthcoming Grove Street, School Street represent the Council’s immediate response to some of the most pressing deficiencies. In light of the development’s temporary nature, the scheme makes most of existing structures, adding as little embodied carbon as possible.
An engaged design process is building the capacity and networks of local people to benefit from the forthcoming estate regeneration as well as opportunities arising from arising from adjacent housing densification.
