Borane has been working with innovation districts worldwide since 2018. She brings together international research, strategic analysis, and stakeholder engagement to advise innovation district and city leaders, investors, and developers on governance, narrative-building, investment attraction and inclusivity. Notably, she spearheaded a global review of over 200 innovation districts, uncovering key insights into their challenges, growth trajectories, and success stories. She also contributed to a playbook for UK innovation leaders.
At The Business of Cities, Borane leads comparative city benchmarking and research projects focused on global positioning, place-based regeneration, and brand identity building. Her recent work spans cities like Madrid, Sydney, Vancouver, Auckland, Oslo, and Melbourne, offering actionable insights to enhance their competitiveness.
She also co-authors the Planet of Cities column for RICS and the World Built Environment Forum, exploring the future of urbanisation and its impact on cities globally. Borane holds a degree in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge.
