Nigel is a Structural Technical Director at AECOM who has worked around the world on various complex and technically challenging projects. He has a particular interest in designing complex geometric structures, and in timber engineering. Nigel’s timber experience ranges from gridshells to large commercial office towers, including leading the design of the Bunjil Place timber gridshell which was the recipient of the 2018 Australian National Timber Design Award. His commercial office experience includes the design of the five-storey 22,000m2 Ballarat GovHub timber office building, . A first of its kind in Victoria, the project paved the way for large scale commercial timber developments in the state. Nigel is currently the lead Structural Engineer for T3 Collingwood, a 15 storey hybrid concrete/mass timber office tower in Melbourne.
