The project extended and refurbished the property to rationalise the spaces, adding an external linking staircase between the terrace and courtyard space below making both accessible and connected. The extension itself referenced another modern timber clad residential dwelling at the opposite end of the road to provide a contemporary bookend to the traditional period terraces between. Whilst referencing, the extension does not mimic or replicate instead, it expresses itself with fresh new detailing specific to the location’s context using diagonal timber set to the pitch of the angled extension.
