Alan Gardner, Head of Historic Building Climate Change Adaptation, Historic England
Alan Gardner is a Chartered Building Surveyor accredited in building conservation, whose specialism is the repair of historic buildings. His experience includes early practical work on building sites before obtaining formal qualifications leading to more than thirty years working in the historic built environment. He has worked for a range of organizations related to historic buildings, including SPAB (a national amenity society), as a Historic Buildings Surveyor at English Heritage and both privately (in his own award winning practice for over a decade) and within corporate entities (latter including Head of Heritage Asset Consultancy at Arcadis). Prior to joining Historic England he was a Lead Building Surveyor/National Senior Buildings Conservation Manager for the National Trust.
