Alan is a Partner and Chairman at Sheppard Robson, responsible for the practice’s residential, retail, hotel and masterplanning portfolio. He has over twenty five years of experience working on award winning mixed-use regeneration developments. As well as his specialism in residential design, Alan also oversees Sheppard Robson’s sustainable innovation and research projects.
Alan chaired the RIBA Sustainable Futures Group and was a RIBA National Councillor for six years between 2008 and 2014 and he is currently a Housing Design Awards judge, Vice Chair for DSE design panel for Kingston Upon Thames and a panel member for Frame DRP for Harringay.
Alan studied at the School of Architecture at De Montfort University, Leicester (previously Leicester Polytechnic), where his interest in environmental design began. He continued his research as a Postgraduate, studying new technologies and extreme climates at the University of Houston (SICSA). After qualifying as an architect in 1996 he joined Sheppard Robson in 1998. Alan became a Partner in 2006 and was appointed Chairman in 2019.
