Antonio Capelao is the founding director of award-winning Architecture for Kids CIC running several community projects i.e. Soho Kids Xmas Lights now in its third annual edition where he asks the local primary school pupils to design the Christmas street lighting for Soho, and he hosts and produces the Architecture for kids podcast series 1.
Antonio’s professional career has focused on Architecture, Education, Art and Landscape Design. He has worked for various architectural practices in London, Ahmedabad (B. K. Doshi - Pritzker 2018 and RIBA Gold Medal 2022) and Imadol (Nepal); as well as working on private commissions.
He is an Architecture educator teaching undergraduate students of Architecture at the Welsh School of Architecture Cardiff University.
Antonio is embarking on a multidisciplinary PhD studies in architecture and education to investigate whether the architect’s skills can be taught in primary schools to improve creativity and creative thinking among pupils, to help formulate pedagogic theories to be implemented in the national curricula England, preparing children for their professional lives according to today’s needs and those of a sustainable future.
He is a public speaker presenting regularly his research and community projects work in conferences in the UK and abroad, as well as publishing his work.
