New London Architecture
Chris Donkin is London Sport’s Strategic Lead for Active Environments. This role sees Chris work with various stakeholders and directly with local communities to better understand how the design of spaces impacts participation in sport and physical activity, whilst also exploring how existing grey, green and blue spaces can be better utilised to allow Londoners to lead a more active lifestyle. Some examples of Chris’ current work include a project focussed on understanding the needs of teenage girls in connection to facilities and space to encourage greater participation from this audience, and the creation of a wellness hub in South East London using an empty retail space.
Chris joined London Sport in June 2020, having spent ten years at The Lawn Tennis Association as a Facilities Investment Manager. This role saw Chris work with local communities and landowners, to deliver a mix of capital investment projects geared towards growing participation levels in the game.
Chris is passionate about the role that sport and physical activity can have on improving people’s lives and wider communities they reside in.
