David Taylor is a Partner at Montagu Evans LLP, specialising in heritage, townscape and design matters. He is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, an Affiliate of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, and a Recognised Practitioner of the Urban Design Group.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Planning and Development and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Urban Design. These qualifications were supplemented in September 2024 by a Master of Studies (MSt) in Building History from the University of Cambridge.
In professional practise, David worked briefly at Lichfield District Council, where he prepared Conservation Area Appraisals. He joined Montagu Evans LLP later in 2012 and has been a Partner since 2021. He has over 15 years’ experience advising on complex planning and design matters.
As a qualified planner, urban designer and heritage consultant, David brings an integrated skill set spanning tall buildings policy, design governance, and townscape and heritage assessment. His work supports the successful securing of planning permission and listed building consent for major and sensitive schemes, often in historic and high‑density urban contexts. He also acts as an expert witness, providing evidence on heritage, townscape and visual matters at planning inquiry appeals.
