Diane Corfe is Waterman’s National Service Lead for ecology with over 30 years’ consultancy experience in biodiversity, impact assessment and ecological services delivered across a range of market sectors.
A Chartered Biologist and an active member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), Diane is involved in setting professional ecology standards and drafting guidance as part of CIEEM’s Professional Standards Committee. As a member of the British Standards Institution (BSi) Biodiversity Committee, Diane has contributed to emerging national and ISO standards for biodiversity.
Starting her consultancy career as a field botanist and protected species ecologist, Diane provides technical direction for complex impact assessments identifying how good biodiversity design can be embedded into the earliest development stages to meet stakeholder expectations and optimise opportunities for biodiversity net gain to deliver a more sustainable, climate-resilient future. Diane leads on strategic and project level assessments, standing as expert witness at Public Inquiries for Town and Country planning applications, and at Development Consent Order (DCO) Hearings.
