Garry is one of Network Rail’s Principal Engineers in the Buildings& Architecture team. Currently, the UK technical lead for the EU IN2STEMPO R&D programme looking at rail infrastructure sustainability, low carbon energy and smart building innovation. Over 25 years experience in various multi-disciplinary, private, and public sector roles relating to research, environmental sustainability, and the built environment. A passionate advocate of sustainable buildings and low (zero) carbon engineering Garry was instrumental in several innovative and noteworthy projects including the first Park & Ride shelter made entirely from environmentally sustainable materials including locally
coppiced sweet chestnut timber and straw bales from local farmers. He was also recognised for his work in both the Government’s SALIX Energy Efficiency programme and more recently in supporting the low carbon engineering at Birmingham New St station.
