Garry founded and ran the urban design consultancy, Think Place, and co-founded a not-for-profit research company, Place Research Lab (a collaboration with the University of East London). Before that he was Urban Design Director at Farrells and a Project Director at Grimshaw. Garry is a Design Council Cabe Built Environment Expert and a fellow of the RSA. He was previously an Urban Design Surgeon for Urban Design London and a panel member of the Cabe-affiliated East Midlands Design Review Panel. 
He was also an Architect and Chartered Town Planner and has been working with TfL for four years on central London projects aimed at transforming the public realm. These include designs for Oxford Street and the public spaces and streets in front of Waterloo Station and Victoria Station. He is also advising on the designs for Vauxhall Cross, Kings Cross and the Euston Road.
