John Stiles
 John is an architect and town planner over 15 years of professional experience in planning, design and construction related roles, most recently as the Placemaking Manager at the London Borough of Brent. In this role, he leads on all aspects of ‘place’ managing a team specialised in urban design, heritage and conservation, trees, landscape and ecology, providing pre-application design advice, developing new design-related supplementary planning guidance and design codes, overseeing design review, and developing strategic masterplans for some of the borough’s growth areas. 
 
John joined the public sector in 2019 as a Public Practice Associate working in the Property Development team at Transport for London, now known as Places for London. Prior to this, he worked at award-winning private architecture and urban design practices Maccreanor Lavington and Bell Phillips gaining a breadth of experience in the housing and education sectors working on projects for a range of clients at both design and delivery stages. 
 
Alongside his role at Brent, John previously worked part-time for Public Practice as a Learning Facilitator delivering the learning and development programme of the Associate course for a number of cohorts. He is also a member of the Folkestone & Hythe Place Panel and has lectured and been a visiting critic at numerous architecture and planning schools across the UK.
