Mariana Schiller is an urban planner with a background in housing, research and community engagement with experiences in the private and public sectors in Brazil and the UK. She was an Associate at Public Practice’s third cohort, a programme that places built environment experts in local authorities. During her placement in Tower Hamlets, she delivered the Central Area Good Growth Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The SPD, which was produced in-house, sets context-led design guidelines for housing developments on small sites in the most sensitive part of the borough.
She is currently a Senior Housing Policy Officer at the GLA, where her work spans different policy areas including specialist supported housing. Her research on London’s housing crisis was published by the International Journal of Housing Policy.
