Mel joined HLM as Head of Healthcare in 2022, bringing with her extensive experience in the technical project delivery of healthcare architecture across a variety of clinical projects.

She is inspired by refining processes and efficiency whilst building a network of best practice, enabling healthcare providers to deliver improved care for patients. Mel is responsible for expanding and advocating the expertise and clinical design knowledge of the HLM healthcare team, strategically growing existing business relationships, and creating new opportunities nationally across all areas of the healthcare industry. 

The desire to make spaces that improve lives sits at the heart of every discipline within HLM Architects, but in healthcare environments, we see this as a fundamental requirement in our healthcare projects. For over 40 years, we have been designing award-winning healthcare architecture that provides healing and therapeutic environments, contributing to both staff and patient experiences in a positive way.

Our design philosophy puts people at its centre. We use our creativity to unlock the potential within each project to be the best it can, always thinking about the whole life implications along with the impact on the people who will experience it. We call this ‘Thoughtful Design’.
