Nick was Executive Director of the National Theatre 2002-2014 alongside Nicholas Hytner (NT Director 2003-15) with whom he has founded the London Theatre Company.

They will open a new 900-seat theatre at One Tower Bridge in 2017. He has chaired the boards of Battersea Arts Centre (2002-2007) and the Bush Theatre (2009-2014) and has served as a non-executive director of the Society of London Theatre and Nesta (formerly the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts). He received a special Olivier Award in 2014 and Tony Awards in 2012 and 2015, and was made CBE in 2014.
